Rural Update: Sustainable Farming Incentive

With the beauty of spring arriving across the East Midlands, farmers are being invited to help shape the future of England’s rural landscape by taking part in DEFRA’s Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot scheme.  Why not carve out your own rural idyll with one of our rural property offerings.

This is a new scheme to reward environmental land management. It aims to help improve biodiversity and create greener landscapes, promoting cleaner air and water and helping to protect against environmental risks such as climate change and flooding.

The Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme launches in 2022, but before its launch, it needs to be piloted during 2021 with farmers being paid to provide feedback to DEFRA. This is part of a process called ‘co-design’, which means working with farmers to make sure the scheme works in practice.

Applications for the first round of the pilot scheme need to be made by midnight on 11th April 2021.
